Daniel and the Lions’ Den Story for Kids

Daniel was one of the wisest and kindest men in the whole kingdom. Everyone respected him, especially King Darius, who trusted Daniel more than anyone. This is the story of how Daniel faced the greatest challenge of his life, and how courage, kindness, and faith turned a scary night into a miracle.

Chapter 1: A Law That Changed Everything

Daniel worked in the king’s court and always did his job well. But some of the other officials were jealous of him. They didn’t like that the king trusted Daniel so much, so they began plotting against him.

They knew Daniel prayed to God every day, so they went to King Darius with a clever idea. “Make a law,” they said, “that for thirty days, no one can pray to any god or person except you, O king. Anyone who disobeys will be thrown into the lions’ den.”

The king thought it sounded fine and signed the law. But the officials were secretly smiling because they knew Daniel would never stop praying.

When Daniel heard about the new law, he didn’t hide or run. He simply went to his room, opened his windows, and prayed three times a day, just as he always had. The jealous officials caught him and hurried to tell the king.

Chapter 2: A Night in the Lions’ Den

King Darius was upset. He liked Daniel, but the law could not be changed. With a heavy heart, he ordered Daniel to be placed in the lions’ den. A large stone was rolled over the entrance, and the king sealed it with his own ring.

That night, the king couldn’t sleep. At the first light of dawn, he rushed to the den and called, “Daniel! Has your God been able to save you from the lions?”

From inside came Daniel’s calm voice. “My God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths. They have not hurt me because I have done nothing wrong before Him or you, O king.”

The king was overjoyed. Daniel was lifted out, safe and unharmed. Everyone could see it was a miracle.

Chapter 3: Lessons for a Lifetime

King Darius made a new order for the whole kingdom, telling everyone to respect and honor the living God, who saves and performs wonders in heaven and earth. He said, “He rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Daniel’s courage showed that trusting in God brings peace, even in the scariest moments. His story became a reminder that doing what is right is always worth it, no matter the cost.
